My fiance and I are having a traditional wedding. Although, as as surprise to our guests we were thinking of hiring a belly dancer to perform during dinner, so it will give our guests some unexpected entertainment. We like the idea of having a traditional wedding with a few unique twists, such as the belly dancer performing...what do you think? If you were a guest at our wedding and a belly dancing perormed would you enjoy it?
I am shocked so many people who be offended. Some of you even said you would walk out! I feel sad for people that are so narrow minded. How boring to live a life being that way!

Hi. If it is part of your culture, and most of your guests are of that culture, then it would be fine.

As far as would I enjoy it? No. But I would not walk out either. I would, however, think to myself "what a waste of money!"

Question: why do you think your guests need to be entertained? This is about celebrating your marriage and your new life. Instead of the time that the belly dancer would be performing, you and your groom walk around to the tables and chat with your guests. That would be free, and yes, I would enjoy THAT!

I'm surprised at the answers as well. It's not like she's suggesting a stripper pole in the middle of the room, people! I'm stunned as to how and why people would find belly dancing offensive.
