Default Wedding Reception Question?

How do you word the reception to follow? Is the address right underneath, on another sheet, or what? Where do I put the directions?

It depends on the type of invitation you have selected. You can always put: "Reception to follow at:" with the location, address, time and other information such as: "Dinner will be served," "light appetizers and cocktails," etc.

Some opt for a Reception card. Make sure if you send this out you also send an ADDITIONAL card for R.S.V.P.'ing otherwise your guests will send all of the reception information back to you.

The directions can be an insert wherever you have all of the other information about the wedding. It is a bit classier to have guests call or indicate on their R.S.V.P. cards if they need directions.

Etiquette wise I think you are supposed to have a separate "Reception Card" that is included with your invitation, but I am definitely not the Ettiquette police and I think it would be just fine to list the address under "Reception to Follow."

My fiance and I got tri-fold invitations. On the front we had our names, in the middle we had the invite to the church and on the third we put reception to follow at...then the name and address.
We ended up saving some money this way because we didn't have to include reception cards.
As for the directions, that is something that you can make on your own, if you wish. You can go to mapquest, put in the address and make a copy of that map, then add directions from different locations. You can take it to kinko's and have it printed out on sheets of paper, then just slip it in with the invitations...or there is a web site called www.weddingmapper.com. You can make free maps from that site. Good luck!

If the reception is at the same place as the ceremony, you would put "Reception immediately following" at the bottom of the invite. If the reception is at a 2nd location then you should include a separate reception card with the address and other info.

just have "reception to follow" with a card with the reception address and a card for them to RSVP their number attending. When they RSVP, then they can tell you if they need directions and you can send them the map.

Directions to the event shouldn't be put in the invitiation in this case. This is a formal event not a bbq, a tailgate or a kegger.
