Here is the story. My friend go married almost 2 years ago and had a baby. We were friends with this girl, whos mom did wedding videos, so as her present she did the video for her. We ended up getting in a fight with this girl after the wedding and we are no longer friends with her. She has a crazy mother who has and did the video, who will not give the video to her. She finally got in contact with her and the mother wrote her nasty letter, saying anyone who hates my daughter will get NOTHING from me. so how can we get this video. I mean its her wedding you dont mess with that. And since it was a gift, we dont have anything she would of signed. Can we hire a lawyer?

Well I don't think a lawyer is going to be able to do all that much.I know in cases when a guy proposes and a woman accepts if she breaks off the engagement he is entitled to the ring (a judge usually sides with the man because when she said yes she did a verbal committment and then retracted)As far as this situation she said it was a gift but there was no contract.The only hope is that your friend kept that nasty letter and in it she states your not getting your wedding video.I know its the wedding day and its important but how important because getting a lawyer can get pricey..And this mother seems unstable she could just say she destroyed it and how are they going to prove it unless they get a search warrent for her house and most likely her daughters house.Try calling a pro bono lawyer to get an opinion on whether your friend has a case or not.Good luck....
