I never heard that superstition. The one about not seeing the bride before the wedding day, that originated with the bride's family.
In arranged marriages where the couple had never met before the wedding day, the bride's family kept her away from the groom before the ceremony in case he changed his mind about marrying her if he thought she was unattractive. This reason no longer exists.
I was in a wedding where all picture taking was done between the ceremony and the reception. It took so long, we came back to the reception to a banquet hall full of very bored impatient guests. They had been waiting a long time for us, the wedding party, to finally arrive. Half of them were in the bag already, and didn't give a rat's patoot whether we ever showed up. Couple still married 17 years later.
The other wedding I was a guest at, the couple did all their pictures before the wedding day. No delays. Couple still married going on 16 years.
Anecdotal evidence says it makes no difference.
