This is a cultural question. In my family it would be considered inappropriate to ask for money in the invitation. However, it might be ok to let people know indirectly or through conversations that money would be preferred.

In some cultures it is normal for the couple to be given gifts of money at the reception, but they don't need to ask for it. It is a tradition.
