Help!! Decorating a church gym for a wedding reception!!?

Hey all!
We are renting a church gym for our wedding reception. Any suggestions or ideas on how to make it romantic or set the ambiance? I really dislike overhead lighting - but I don't want it too dark in there either. The reception will be around 6:00 - in April.
