Default Table decorations at wedding reception?

Does anyone have any unique ideas as to what to put in a table decoration? I'm using either a bubble vase or a round one. My balloons will be secured in the centre of the vase but i'm trying to think of something really unique but not trashy to fill the rest of the vase with. Any ideas much appreciated.

you could fill the fish bowls with sweets.

try flying saucers, dolly mixtures, jelly beans.....

each bowl could have a different type of sweet

Fill with colored water, feathers, silk flowers or ivy vines. Or you can do the glass rocks, sea glass, sand or colored sand.

I'm not very keen on the balloon idea, the reason is it always seem to entice the children at any wedding to go 'hypo'... running around, with these balloons, running into people with drinks and food, and 'wafting balloons' all over the place, not to mention when 'they pop' them on purpose !

I like the idea of those 'small cameras' you can supply for your guests... this way they can take their own photos seated at the table, and at the end of the night, you can collect them... this way, you have more fun, and memories, looking back at what they were up to on the night..(and can be placed in your 'guest book') or shared.
You can buy them on the Internet, quite cheaply, and in different colours, and can be placed in a bowl in the centre of each table.

If you do still want balloons, the cheaper option, to fill the vase up, is I would suggest, silk flower petals, or real petals, in the colours of your wedding outfits.

a friend x

How about beta fish? They can live in a small space, and are really beautiful. Include a tiny amount of food and some care instructions, and your guests will be thrilled to take them home.

I wouldn't do the balloons at all. Decide first what the theme or season your wedding will be in. Winter weddings as far as the reception I would probably go with elegant candles, nice vase or glasses decorated with branches or lights. Summer wedding reception centerpieces would probably be really nice floral arrangements or elegant petals on the tables. Be creative but keep it classy!

Could you actually GROW small plants in them? Like in a terrainium? Ask at your local florist for suitable bulbs that will in season to add colour. You have to use special compost as there are no drainage holes, but your florist can help you, or local garden centre.
Add loads of green foliage to, for contrasting texture, but a large bulb, flowering from the centre would be different.
Have a lovely day.

Oh, if you are having those huge bubble vases, why not fish??? and coloured gravel???
